Designing this house, located just outside of Łódź, we wanted to use the changeability of nature; paint pictures and play with the senses. Flames dancing in the fireplace during a cold, winter night, the warmth of a cup of tea with a touch of honey, warming your hands while watching the autumn leaves blown in the wind. That vision is what inspired our architecture. It started as a more traditional home, fitted with a hip roof, but over time we decided to change our approach. We’ve set on designing a simple, modern house, making the most of the area we’ve been given. From the very beginning our eyes were set on the importance of the forest right next to as, so the vision of an open plan house fitted with a double height living room with a mezzanine, leading to all the rooms on the first floor, came to us right away. Just as the house opens up on the forest side, it closes down to the other side creating a more austere and concise for, with only large window being the one in the kitchen on the south side. In the summertime, when the sun is high, the house protects itself from the heat with the overhanging floor, while allowing it to penetrate itself during the winter.
