The very heart of the campus of the Lodz University of Technology, a place surrounded by modern university facilities such as “LabFactor” or “Alchemium”, the most important sports facilities in Łódź, such as “Zatoka Sportu”(Sports Bay), “Bombonierka” ice rink and MOSiR Sports Hall, and in the vicinity of two historic parks - Prince Józef Poniatowski’s Park and bishop Michał Klepacz Park will become a birthplace of Platon Apartments, a new residential complex by MRT Philosophy sp. z o.o. / Real Development Group sp. z o. o. sp. k., directed at the students and employees of nearby Business University Park among others.
150 flats with areas varying between 25 and 48 square metres have been designed over four storeys of the building. To improve the quality of the space surrounding the building, as well as encourage the residents to spend time together, an intimate square has been designed on the side facing the woonerf on Stefanowskiego Street along with a commercial premise on the ground floor, where a café or a store can be located. The principal idea behind the landscaping scheme was to blur the line between private and public areas, creating appealing spaces for people to meet and relax in, which is directly intertwined with the city’s revitalisation policy focused greatly on converting the streets into woonerfs for meetings, gatherings and trade, significantly enhancing the local economy. The inner patio, being a semi-private space, rich in greenery, builds upon the same principle, inviting interactions between the residents.
The architecture of the buildings themselves, is minimal in form; the elevations are articulated through rhythmical progression of windows in a simple pattern diversified by terraces, balconies and arcades.
